ကမ္ဘာ့ဆင်များနေ့ ( World Elephant Day )
နှစ်စဉ် သြဂုတ်လ 12 ရက်နေ့ကို ကမ္ဘာ့ဆင်များနေ့အဖြစ် ကမ္ဘာတစ်ဝှမ်းရှိ လူများစုဝေးကာ ဆင်များအကြောင်း အသိပညာပေးခြင်းနှင့် တောရိုင်းများတွင် ကြုံတွေ့ရသည့် စိန်ခေါ်မှုများကို အသိပညာပေးရန် ကျင်းပလေ့ရှိကြပါသည်။ ၂၀၁၂ ခုနှစ်တွင် တည်ထောင်ခဲ့ပြီး အဆိုပါ လှုပ်ရှားမှုသည် အာဖရိကနှင့် အာရှဆင်များ နှစ်မျိုးစလုံးအတွက် မီးမောင်းထိုးပြခဲ့ပြီး ၎င်းတို့၏ ယဉ်ကျေးမှု၊ ဂေဟစနစ်နှင့် စီးပွားရေးဆိုင်ရာ အရေးပါမှုများကြားမှ ပြင်းထန်သော ခြိမ်းခြောက်မှုများကို ဆက်လက် ရင်ဆိုင်နေကြရသည်ကို သိရှိလာနိုင်စေရန်ဖြစ်ပါသည်။
ကမ္ဘာ့ဆင်များနေ့မှာတော့ ဆင်တွေနဲ့ပတ်သက်တဲ့ စိတ်ဝင်စားဖွယ်အချက်လေးတွေကို ပြောပြပေးသွားမှာပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
(၁)ဆင်တွေဟာ ကုန်းနေနို့တိုက်သတ္တဝါတွေထဲမှာ ခန္ဓာကိုယ်အရွယ်အစား အကြီးမားဆုံးတိရစ္ဆာန်ပဲ ဖြစ်ပါ တယ်။ အရွယ်ရောက်တဲ့ အာဖရိကဆင်ထီးတစ်ကောင်ဟာဆိုရင် ပေါင်ချိန် (၈၀၀၀၀ မှ ၁၅၀၀၀၀) လောက်ထိ ကြီးမားကြပါတယ်။
(၂)ဆင်တွေဟာ အုပ်စုဖွဲ့ပြီးနေထိုင်တတ်တဲ့ သတ္တဝါတွေ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဆင်အုပ်စုတစ်စုမှာဆိုရင် ဆင်ကောင်ရေ (၅ ကောင် မှ အကောင် ၂၀) အထိ အုပ်စုဖွဲ့နေထိုင်တတ်ပြီးတော့ အုပ်စုထဲမှာတော့ အသက်ကြီးဆုံး ဆင်အမကို အုပ်စုရဲ့ခေါင်းဆောင်အဖြစ်ထားလေ့ရှိကြပါတယ်။
(၃)ကမ္ဘာပေါ်မှာ ဆင်မျိုးစိတ် (၂) မျိုးရှင်သန်နေထိုင်ကျက်စားပါတယ်။ ၎င်းမျိုးစိတ်တို့မှာ အာဖရိကဆင် ( African Elephant ) နှင့် အာရှဆင် (Asian Elephant ) တို့ပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
(၄)ဆင်တွေရဲ့ နှာမောင်းဟာ ကြွက်သားပေါင်း (၄၀၀၀၀) ခန့်ဖြင့် ဖွဲ့စည်းထားပါတယ်။ နှာမောင်း ကို အသက်ရှုခြင်း၊ အနံ့ခံခြင်း၊ ရေသောက်ခြင်း၊ ပစ္စည်းများကိုကိုင်တွယ်ခြင်း၊ အချင်းချင်းနှုတ်ဆက်ခြင်းနှင့် ရေငုပ်သည့်အခါ အသက်ရှုပိုက်လိုမျိုး အသုံးပြုလေ့ ရှိကြပါတယ်။
(၅)ဆင်အစွယ်ဆိုတာ ဆင်တွေရဲ့သွားပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ် ။ ဆင်တစ်ကောင်မှာဆိုရင် စုစုပေါင်းသွား (၂၆) ချောင်းပါရှိပါတယ် ။ အစွယ်ဟာ မြေကြီးများကို တူးဆွခြင်း၊ သစ်ခေါက်များကို ခွာနိုင်ခြင်းနှင့် ၎င်းတို့ အန္တရာယ်ကျရောက်သည့်အခါ ပြန်လည် ခုခံ နိုင်ရန်အတွက် အသုံးပြုလေ့ ရှိကြပါတယ် ။
(၆)ဆင်တွေဟာ မှတ်ဉာဏ် အလွန်ကောင်းကြတဲ့ သတ္တဝါထဲမှာ ပါဝင်ပါတယ်။ မှန်ရှေ့မှာ ကိုယ့်ကိုကိုယ် ပြန်လည်သိနိုင်တဲ့ တိရစ္ဆာန်တွေထဲမှာ ဆင်တွေပါဝင်ကြပါတယ်။ ဆင်တွေဟာ လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့ နှစ် (၂၀) လောက်က ကျင်လည် ကျက်စားခဲ့ဖူးတဲ့ နေရာတွေကိုပင် ပြန်လည် မှတ်မိ နိုင်ပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် ဝမ်းနည်းခြင်း နှင့် ခံစားခြင်းတွေလည်း ဆင်တွေဆီမှာ ရှိကြပါတယ်။
(၇)ဆင်တွေဟာ သဘာဝပတ်ဝန်းကျင်အတွက် အရေးပါတဲ့ တိရစ္ဆာန်မျိုးစိတ်ပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဆင်တွေကို "သဘာဝရဲ့ဥယျာဉ်မှူးများ" လို့ ခေါ်ကြပါတယ်။ ဆင်တွေဟာ သီးစေ့များကို ဖြန့်ကျဲ ပေးခြင်း၊ ရေတူးပေးခြင်း၊ သစ်ပင်ပေါင်းစုံကြားသစ်ခက်များကို ဖြတ်တောက်ရှင်းပေးခြင်းတို့ဖြင့် သဘာဝပတ်ဝန်းကျင် တစ်ခုလုံး ကျန်းမာရေးစနစ်ကို ထိန်းသိမ်းပေးနိုင်ပါတယ်။ ထို့ပြင် နိုင်ငံအများအပြားတွင် အာဏာကြီးမားမှု အထိမ်းအမှတ်သင်္ကေတ ၊ ဉာဏ်ပညာကြီးမားမှု၊ ခွန်အားကြီးမားမှု နှင့် အတူတကွ ပေါင်းစည်းခြင်း စသော သင်္ကေတအဖြစ်လည်း လေးစား ထိန်းသိမ်းခံရတဲ့ တိရစ္ဆာန်ပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ် ။
ထို့ကဲ့သို့ သဘာဝပတ်ဝန်းကျင်၊ ဂေဟစနစ်နှင့် လူသားတို့အတွက် အရေးပါလှသည့် ဆင်များအား ထိန်းသိမ်းကာကွယ်စောင့်ရှောက်ကြရန်၊ ဆင်များ၏ နေရင်းဒေသများအား ထိန်းသိမ်းရန်၊ ယင်းတို့အား အလွန်အကျွံအမဲလိုက်သတ်ဖြတ်ဖမ်းဆီးနေခြင်း၊ အရိုး၊ အသား၊ အရေခွံတို့နှင့် တရားမဝင် ဆင်စွယ်ရောင်းဝယ်ခြင်း၊ ဝိုင်းဝန်းကာကွယ်ထိန်းသိမ်းနိုင်စေရန် ရည်ရွယ်၍ နှစ်စဉ် ဩဂုတ်လ (၁၂) ရက်နေ့ ကို ကမ္ဘာ့ဆင်များနေ့ အဖြစ်သတ်မှတ်ပြီး ထိုနေ့တွင် ဆင်များ နှင့် ပတ်သတ်သော သိကောင်းစရာ အသိပညာ ဗဟုသုတရဖွယ်ရာ အကြောင်းအရာများကို ပြန်လည် မျှဝေလိုက်ခြင်း ဖြစ်ပါတယ် ။

Every year on August 12th, people around the world come together to celebrate World Elephant Day, a special occasion dedicated to raising awareness about elephants and the challenges they face in the wild. Founded in 2012, the initiative shines a spotlight on both African and Asian elephants, whose populations continue to face severe threats despite their cultural, ecological, and economic importance.
On World Elephant Day, we will share some interesting facts about elephants.
(a) Elephants are the largest land mammals in the world.
An adult male African elephant can weigh between 80,000 and 150,000 pounds.
(b) Elephants are social animals that live in groups.
A herd may consist of 5 to 20 elephants, and the leader is usually the oldest female, known as the matriarch.
(c) There are two species of elephants living on Earth:
the African elephant (Loxodonta africana) and the Asian elephant (Elephas maximus).
(d) An elephant’s trunk is made up of about 40,000 muscles.
It is used for breathing, smelling, drinking, grasping objects, greeting each other, and as a snorkel when swimming.
(e) Elephant tusks are actually teeth.
Each elephant has a total of 26 teeth. Tusks are used for digging the ground, stripping bark from trees, and defending themselves from threats.
(f) Elephants are among the animals with the best memory.
They can recognize themselves in a mirror and remember places they visited even 20 years ago. Elephants are also capable of feeling emotions such as grief and empathy.
(g) Elephants play a vital role in the environment and are known as “gardeners of the forest.” because they play a crucial role in maintaining the health of ecosystems. By dispersing seeds, digging for water, and clearing vegetation, elephants help sustain biodiversity that countless other species rely on. They are also a source of cultural pride in many countries, symbolizing wisdom, strength, and unity.
To protect elephants, which are important for the environment, ecosystems, and people, and to preserve their natural homes, stop poaching and illegal trade of their bones, meat, and skin, and support conservation efforts, August 12 is celebrate as World Elephant Day every year. On this day, we share facts and educational information about elephants to help raise awareness.
